Jacob will be three weeks old tomorrow.  It has been a crazy three weeks.  Rhonda's father and Joan arrived here the day after Jacob was born and they have been such a blessing.  They have been helping with everything and when you are living in a place without family and close friends, you need a lot of help!

Jacob is doing really well and he is growing fast.  We see changes in his appearance every day.  His face is filling out and his body is getting longer.  All of us are enjoying every moment of it.

Danny had his first basketball game today and he did awesome.  I know that his skills and interests will change over time, but right now he is quite the defensive juggernaut.  He had 3 steals today and several defensive rebounds.  The best part of all of this is that Danny really enjoys playing and it is so much fun to watch knowing that he is enjoying it so much.  It is also fun to watch because you can see that he is trying so hard every minute that he is out there on the floor.

Andrew had another hockey practice today.  I am not sure when his games start.  Andrew is also developing into a really good player.  His skating skills have really come a long way since last year.  I think that the camp he went to over the summer helped a lot.  Every time I talk to his coach he tells me that he cannot believe how much Andrew has improved from last year.  And, even last year the coaches remarked about how fast he was learning and getting better.  Just like watching Danny, the best part is that Andrew is having a blast out there, and he is also giving 100% when he is out there on the ice.

Rhonda is recovering really well and already after only three weeks, it looks like she was never pregnant.  She is down 25 pounds from her weight before she got pregnant.  She had to really watch her diet when she was pregnant due to the gestational diabetes.  As a result, she LOST about 5 pounds throughout the pregnancy.  So, once the baby came out, she lost a lot more weight.

The weather is really strange.  It started to get cold the week that Jacob was born and the mountain peaks got a good covering of snow.  However, over the last two weeks, there has been a slight warming trend and most of the snow on the mountains has melted.  Today we were in the mid-fifties which is probably 10 degrees higher than normal.  We have had rain almost every day since Jacob was born.  And, it is not the typical Alaska rain where it just showers off and on.  It has been steady hard rain most of the time.  I am really looking forward to colder weather and SNOW!!!

Jacob is one month old today!!!  Yesterday was actually his due date!  He is growing really well (check out the new pictures).  He is keeping us up at night, but I guess we should have known what we were in for, right?  Wrong.  We might catch up on our sleep when Jacob is a sophomore in high school.

I know I write about this all the time, but I am just so excited about the progress that Danny and Andrew are making in basketball and hockey.  It is just really nice to know that they are the pushing themselves to learn and to grow.  They want to do well.  And it shows.  I know that there is definitely a touch of parental pride here, but they really are getting better every day.

Danny has practice every Monday night.  Last night, Danny had a great practice.  The coach told him a few times that he was doing a great job and that he did a great job in the game on Saturday.  After practice last night, the coach asked Danny and three other boys to stay for a few minutes so that he could talk to them.  He asked them to join a "comp" team.  He thinks that their skills are beyond the recreational "just-for-fun" league that they are in right now.  The comp league will help them to grow even further because the kids that are in that league are all at a higher level.

And ... of course Andrew continues to kick butt in hockey and is turning out to be one of the better kids on his team after not even a full year since he was on skates for the first time in his life!  He had a practice on Sunday and during that practice, he was skating backwards which has been doing really well for a long time, but this week, he was doing cross-overs while skating backwards!
